Tree Rd,
Camps Bay
The new multi-storey luxury development on Tree Road, Camps Bay, presented twin challenges: an extremely aggressive project deadline and rough, difficult terrain. The construction program demanded overlapping schedules, requiring the team to cast multiple floor sections, sometimes with one slab curing directly above another.
The Speedfloor suspended concrete flooring system was critical to the project's success, providing essential benefits tailored to these demanding conditions:
Core Product Benefits Highlighted:
-
Concurrent Slab Casting (Non-Propping): Speedfloor’s core advantage of non-propping installation was essential. It allowed the contractor to erect and cast a new slab above another recently cast slab without transferring any load to the floor below. This capability was fundamental in achieving the tight deadline by enabling concurrent work on multiple levels across different sections of the building.
-
Simplified Site Management: Despite the complexity of the stepped structure and rough terrain, the simplicity of the Speedfloor system reduced the need for complex, heavy, and bespoke formwork. This simplified material handling and site logistics, allowing for efficient management of construction activities across the difficult site.
-
Lightweight Advantage: The lightweight nature of the system minimized the imposed loads on the structure and foundations, which is often a critical factor when building multi-storey structures on sloped or unstable ground common in the Camps Bay area.
This project is a powerful demonstration of how Speedfloor's ease of use, non-disruptive installation, and lightweight design successfully overcome the significant logistical and programming challenges of high-value, fast-track construction projects on challenging terrain.
