Susan Ave,
Camps Bay

The luxury renovation on Susan Avenue, Camps Bay, presented two distinct challenges: the requirement for an architecturally ambitious cantilevered floor design to achieve a stunning aesthetic, and the significant logistical difficulty posed by the steep hill and tricky terrain of the site.

The Speedfloor suspended concrete flooring system proved to be the ideal solution, solving both the structural and logistical constraints simultaneously.

Core Product Benefits Highlighted:

  1. Cantilever Design Capability: Speedfloor was able to facilitate a unique and effective cantilevered concrete slab design. This allowed the square building structure to elegantly project out from the main supports, achieving the desired visual impact and maximizing usable floor area without reliance on complex, expensive conventional cantilever formwork.

  2. Ease of Site Logistics: The lightweight, component-based nature of the Speedfloor system made the elements easy to carry and handle down the steep hill. This simple transportation process was crucial, saving significant time, labour, and cost associated with moving heavy, large conventional materials or machinery on a physically constrained site.

  3. Speed and Quality: The simplicity of the non-propping system ensured that even with the challenging terrain, the structural slab was erected quickly, delivering a high-quality, permanent concrete floor that matched the luxury standard of the renovation.

The Susan Ave project demonstrates how Speedfloor provides structural design freedom (cantilevers) while offering immense practical benefits for site accessibility and construction logistics on difficult coastal properties.
